This may sound terrible and I don't mean it to be, but have you considered a new doggie bed....from your description of what you want to do with the moving blankets/foam/tape I thought of a pet bed. You could put baby blankets in it and the baby would be comfy. The sides may not be what you want....too low but It could be rolled up and tucked away under the bed or in the car..etc.

I hadn't considered a pet bed. I would probably have to fortify the sides so she doesn't scooch out but that might be a possibility.
