How about some color? Tiffany blue, a pretty green, even a soft coral or peach?
I agree you need some color. Something bright, medium shade. Go with warmer colors(red, orange, yellow) Maybe dark rose, peach, and a few throws/pillows. Gold picture frames.
I think you need some color too, but I do know that some people aren't into color. My daughter had a similar situation and when I said she needed some color, maybe just a vase of red roses (which she loves), next to her faux fireplace, I got "Oh Mom". So it's really up to you whether you want some color as the others have stated or if you want to keep things all neutral and go with a darker beige or brownish paint or dye.
A Blue with a grey tint... or a green like sage... a muted turquoise or teal... I would stay away from yellowish tones but you could accent in a dark barn red.
What's your favorite color? With beige base/foundation, you are pretty much wide open. Beige: combines with blue, brown, emerald, black, red, white.
Go with something dramatic, maybe a feature wall
Your choice is limited only to what colors you like! You want some color, but you do not want to go too dark. If you have loose pillows on your sofa, take one with you to pick out paint. Buy a test sample and try it in different parts of your room.
CAUTION: You can bring in color into a room with other items such as accent pieces instead of paint. If you want to go bold, go light on 3 walls and the bold on an accent wall.
Keep in mind that once the paint is on the wall, it tends to look a lot darker than it does from a chip so you will want to go lighter than you might think.
Green is a great color to work with. Get one that is "soft"...less yellow tint or less bright.
If you want a warmer color, look at Behr "Weathered Sandstone". I put this on the top half of a small half bath, and then put beadboard at the bottom and painted it Oak Cake. I finished it off with a white flat chair rail in white.
From swatches, they do not look very different, but once on the wall they are stunning!!!!
