Please help! Mermaid Lamp
-
Jossi on Mar 24, 2014What is this lovely gal made of ? Are you sure she isn't really valuable, before you drill a hole in her ? LOL Does she have a hole or two to run lamp wiring through ? Maybe take her to a local lamp store and see what they'd do ? She's beautiful. I wouldn't change her one bit. :)Helpful Reply

Linda Dorn on Mar 24, 2014Hi, I'm not sure what she is made of, it is like a plaster but hollow inside. Great idea of taking her to a lamp store to see if they can drill a hole. I don't think she is valuable. Thank you so much for your feedback. LindaHelpful Reply

Linda Dorn on Mar 24, 2014Yes I'm looking to sell her. I live in Ca. near the beach and I have a shop that takes my item on consignment. I found this beautiful mermaid and wanted to do something unique with her. Thank you for your feedback. LindaHelpful Reply

117135 on Mar 24, 2014I would paint it. I would use a nice sea blue for the base color and paint a white over top and distress the top so the white shows through. By painting it, it would give it a more of a beachy feel. I love the shells added to the base.Helpful Reply

Carole Alden on Mar 25, 2014If I had her, I'd take my white wooden tray that I throw bills into, and line it with something and add white sand and her sorting her shells. She's just so nice to look at. She doesn't have to be useful.Helpful Reply

Linda on Mar 25, 2014how much would you like for the mermaid?Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Mar 26, 2014I would look for a skinny lap and take off the base to attach it to a weathered board. Shape the board with curves to soften the look. Attach the mermaid with putty that can make her removable at a later date if you wish, glue on the shells and you have a lamp.Helpful Reply

Justme on Mar 26, 2014NO-o-o-o! Don't paint her. I love to paint everything but, she is valuable. Do your research. Do like the others suggested and put tubing around her for a lamp. Don't drill into her or paint her. You can always make a pretty shade.Helpful Reply
