Depending on where you live that may not be that much, with that out of the way, it would depend on the size of your rooms to be heated and also remember not to allow pipes to freeze so overall personally I doubt it. Take into consideration that you would need various heaters, and electrical bill will go up substantially. They get you coming and going so if it's not the price of propane it will be electrical bill. I hope that helps you to determine what is best for your situation. You may want to speak to your neighbors and see how they deal with it and get ideas because someone may have tried this already.
Did you apply for LIEAP, low energy assistance program, if your low income you can qualify for up to $305. If you have a case worker at Senior & Disabled Services call them to apply.... or check on here and call the 800 number.... https://www.benefits.gov/benefits/benefit-details/623 here in Oregon they let clients apply twice this year for a total of $610 and it goes straight to the power company to your account.
My experience is that it is much more $$ to run the space heaters
We have an "Equalizer Plan" with our power company (APS) where the cost of electricity is averaged out over the whole year.. and we pay the same amount each month.. much better for budgeting....here in AZ we use more in summer than in winter.
Also.. you should give them a call and have them do an energy assessment... they will have ways to help you find where your home is loosing heat.
It depends upon how much the electricity costs in your area, and how much electricity your space heater uses. An oil filled heater (one that looks like an old fashioned radiator uses less electricity). Usually just heating a smaller area will cost less. Do you buy propane during the summer and fill your tank when the cost is less?
