If you have a front window, you could make a frame out of wood to fit that size and then place the lights on it. When Christmas comes just secure the frame in the window. When Christmas is over, take the frame down and store it.

There are projected lights and they work and laser lights. Each have pros and cons. You only need to plug in the device and set in front of the house.

Hi Phyllis,
Do you have any bushes or hedges around the house or in the yard that you would consider decorating instead of mounting lights on the house? If so, then I recommend the net lights, instead of the conventional strings. Net lights are so easy to "put up" as all you do is drape one or two over the bush, stretching it gently to go around. Then plug in. All done. No high ladders, hammers, nails, or clips needed.
I put green wreaths with ribbons on all windows. The large living room window has a huge lighted wreath on it with a lighted red ribbon. That's it - but it looks good. Simplicity is the answer. You could put individual candle lights in each window with a door decoration instead.
