Hi Joanburnswood,
We are unable to recommend anyone for a couple of reasons. First we have no idea where you live. Hometalk members come from all over the world. The second reason is that even if we did know where you live, the people who answer questions are also from all over the world so we can't possibly know what's available where you live. My advice would be to look in your yellow pages phone book (if you have one) and if that didn't work, I'd suggest asking managers in local hardware stores or looking in local papers. You could also try http://homeadvisor.com They are supposed to have local contractors registered in various areas across the US. I hope that helps you. Wishing you the best & Happy New Year!
Go on-line to Angie's List or YP or a site like that. They will give you information about local contractors, including reviews that can help you. Get 3 estimates along with references as this could be an expensive job if they have to jack up your house.
Thank you so much Sal85902. I will do this. I am a very Sr. lady and it is difficult for me to ask for help but this time had to do it. I want to keep and stay, in my home but it needs work. Thank you again for your help, I really appreciate and wish you a very Happy New Year. BTW, I am in the greater Bay Area, CA.
I understand that Joan. I had a similar problem but I know others have been happy with their service.
