Hi... your home improvement store will sell leak proof tape and I've learned one of the tricks for a nice clean line is to remove the tape before the paint dries all the way
Try green tape. You can also paint the base color before the new color.
Good quality blue tape helps vs using masking tape.
Cleaning the woodwork before tape application is quite important as well as making sure you press down the tape to seal it tight.

Before you pull off the tape, score the line with a utility knife, THEN pull off the tape.
Try blue painters tape or frogg tape. those are suppose to prevent leaks.
Go over the edges of the painters' tape/frogg tape with an old credit card before painting. This will seal the edges and give you a clean, crisp line.
