What colors do YOU find soothing. For some they are the colors of the ocean - blues / tans. For other it is the colors of the forest, or fields or prairie. Find a picture that you find soothing - use that as a focal point. Copy your colors from that picture. Then hang over the headboard. Don't rule out thrift shops - they have tons of art work for $20.00 and under. Stay away form colors like reds, yellow - not good bedrooms. And don't give in to trends. Most people don't re-decorate that often, especially bedrooms. You want something you find soothing, not what is in style.

I have a pastel green that I find very soothing and calming. I hang in there when I need the calming affect
