Also I can’t figure out how to clean up the paint on my cabinets unless I actually sanded and restain it,have any ideas or tips?
Enlarge a sea shell that you like on a copier and trace it onto your seat using a light colored marker (or chalk if the lid is dark) You should be able to use acrylic paint on both wood and plastic lids.
Remove it from toilet and set up a spray painting area for yourself. Clean toilet lid thoroughly and dry, use spray primer and then spray paint (several light coats) with a gloss enamel finish in color of your choice. Be sure to dry thoroughly between coats. Some people sand lightly and then use a tack cloth to remove dust in between coats. I've had good results spray painting without sanding between coats, but that's up to you.
