Just make sure it says flexible on the tube. It also comes in colors.
Instead of worrying about caulk all the time why not nail or glue wood stips at the seems . It will look great and no more worries.
use caulk with silicone
I would try to pry the seam with a putty knife and squeeze some construction adhesive behind the panel. Doesn't need to be neat. Then use finish nails to hold in place. Then caulk the seams.
I had the same problem caulking around my windows. Every year I had to redo them. Then I was told to use 100% silicone caulk. Been over 3 years now and still looks great!
Use a silicone that is flexible and made for temperature changes, maybe one for outdoors or automotive. The silicone would be more flexible. William's suggestion about the adhesive may help it not pull so much.
I agree. An exterior silicone caulk will do the trick!
Looks like some glue behind it and finishing nails or small brads should keep it in place and then add a bead of caulk. I love the As Seen On TV "Flex Seal"! Note that it is very shiny after it dries but if you have a gloss or semi gloss in the room, it should work great! Its also very flexible! I now use it in my bathrooms because it doesn't get dingy either, it stays bright white!
I've had great results with a caulking called "Big Stretch". It's sold at Lowe's.
Flex Seal.
I agree with the strips.and would nail them so it can still expand like a floating floor.since you have a changing temperature situation
Go with thw Big Stretch! Works great and doesn't crack!
