Hi, I was once told that you sand the spot with very fine grade paper then rub in with mareer oil. I don't know if you get marveer oil in America.
Try rubbing vaseline on it with a soft cloth
Try Restore-A-Finish. Comes in colors to match all finishes. Wipe on with a soft cotton cloth. Rub in direction of the grain. Wipe off with a 2nd soft cloth. Wear Gloves. Then wax on top. This will remove white spots. Costs about $9.00 a can at Lowes / Home Depot. I have used it several times, including white spots. It really works.
Get a damp towel and place it over the white spot, apply an iron over the white mark and make sure to use steam. The white mark should disappear.
Oh, I forgot to say that when you place the iron on the table it is supposed to be on the towel. When I read back my statement, I didn't mention to put the iron on the towel that is on the white mark
I very much echo the Howard's Restore-a-Finish suggestion! It's the easiest and most successful way to restore small scratches and finish marks from wood.
I've even used it on several of my stair treads that got scuffed over the years.
Start with a soft rag first and if that doesn't work, use very fine steel wool. Remember to rub in the direction of the wood grain, and wipe off any excess.
You'll feel like a magician!
