Pick a couple nice accent walls/doors/etc, and adhere a beautiful piece of fabric, using liquid starch. Tons of tutorials and product suggestions online. Comes right off with soap and water. Good luck.

Yes. There are many options. You can use the command hook tabs to hang things With out the hook. They make great double sided tape and also there is a putty like substance to hang things. Teachers use it all the time. You can use 1/4” MDF board, glue tiles to it and temp hang as a back splash.

Great answers already! There are also "peelable" wall stickers/wallpaper, just for your situation. You can find them online at the big A and the E Bay, as well as, I suspect, in local Big Box Stores, but with a limited selection.

Also, FIY, when I painted on movie sets, we would add a liquid soap, such as Murphey's Oil, if we didn't want it to stick. So, you could test using a small amount of that and paint , say, if you wanted to do a glaze of colour, or a stencil.
