Color for walls for a small half bath

What colors would make a small bath look larger? I want to take down the wall paper at the top part of wall. Should I put wall paper back on the top or paint the entire wall. It has a small board that divides the wall this is why there is wall paper on top and paint at the bottom.

The cool, hip and trendy color is gray - I am always the odd one out, while I like gray, I prefer to use as an accent.
Our half bath was a disaster until we came up with a theme before our makeover. As you can see, we used pastel (baby) blue on the walls and a beadboard in white for the bottom. Used a seashore theme to go with that and a nicely sized mirror over the vanity. Sorry that the photo didn't come out with the full image.
