Do you want to know how to hang or install shelves in front of your kitchen window so your plants can get more sun/light?
You can either attach a board to the window sill or set it up by using "L" brackets underneath the board and attach it to the wall.
you could measure width and have glass cut to size.that way light goes through to all levels
Utilizing curtain rods and metal pails with handles (Dollar Tree), hang on rod. I would paint the pails with Rustoleum in whatever finish that compliments your kitchen
I love this idea and if you are handy you could make something like this yourself (scroll down a bit to get to pine rope hanging planter shelves):

Is your window between your cabinets?
I would use L brackets and mount them at the base of the window, go as wide as your faucets will allow
In my previous home I had a window and my cabinets were on each side. I got a piece of glass, it was 1/2" thick and the length from cabinet to cabinet once you allow for the little brackets. You have to measure the length carefully because the glass is a littIe pricey and you don't want to get it too short in length. I got these brackets (see picture) at HD. I drilled 2 holes on each side of the cabinet a little smaller than the stem on the bracket and hammered them in the holes, then set my piece of glass on top, and put my africian violets across the glass with some other little decor pieces. I loved it and wish I had a kitchen window now. I have an open kitchen dining living room with french doors, just not the same as a window in front of your sink.
