Steelwool
Check on line for Iron off. It comes in a sheet form that you just run your Iron over.
I fill the iron 1cup with water. Take and SOS and scrub lightly on the bottom until you( feel) it's clean. Put the iron on steam, and face it in the sink. Wait till all the water is out. Stand it up, and clean the holes with Q-tips, and wipe with a hot rag. Make sure the iron has cooled, before you wipe with a rag.
Nothing is worse than ironing a clean shirt only to dirty it from the gunky build-up on the bottom of the iron. Luckily, a filthy iron can be cleared up with toothpaste. With the iron cool and unplugged, scrub the bottom with toothpaste on a rag and wipe the surface clean. Simple but effective!
Thanks to all!
If you have an iron with non stick coating, do NOT scrub with steel wool. it will remove finish too.
If you have hard water stains, gentle scrub with hot water and lime-away; if they are sticky residue, use goo gone and follow up with plain soap and water.
