How do I repair smallish hole in wall to reattach bar for toilet paper holder? About two inches in length in wall board.

the patches may not be strong enough for long term use of tp holder. it’s never as thick as wallboard. May be mount it on a decorative board that can connect to studs?
I would patch the hole, and reattach the tp holder nearby.
