would you consider a pallet wall?
I just finished bricking a 14' x 10' wall. I used Home Depot brick flats. It was expensive, about $1000.00 for brick, mastic and mortar. It did turn out great and was worth the money. Before biting the bullet and doing the real brick I looked at several other ideas. Google faux brick walls for ideas. Several people used 4' x 8' brick panels and painted them to look more real. Another woman masking taped the wall and smeared wall with joint compound to give a rough texture. She then removed the tape and painted the bricks. There are lots of ideas and videos on Google.
We just put up a faux brick wall board in our sunroom - they were about $25 each.
Martha Stewart has Part 1 and Part 2 videos on how to stencil faux bricks using sponges and it appears to be simple and to work great. Take a look :)
