What to do with old washer and dryer

Otherwise you could always take them to your local recycling facility or even donate them to someone in need of a washer and dryer. Good luck!

Call your local Salvation Army. They will give them to someone who would be happy to receive them. We did this with a refrigerator a couple years ago. They even gave us a receipt to claim on our income taxes.

Most places where you purchase the new washer and dryer will haul away the old appliances.

If they still worked and all you did was upgrade to new, check with relatives, friends and neighbors to see if someone is just starting out and could use a serviceable set until they can afford new. I do this with everything. When we moved into this house, there was an ancient set and I had much newer and larger set. One of the guys that helped us move the heavy stuff moved into a house he bought and the set in his were really ancient and barely worked, so I offered them to him for helping us out. He gladly took them, we installed them, and to this day (almost four years ago), they are working out fine for him. My daughter has all the small appliances I have replaced over the years that still work, even my pots and pans that I replaced a year ago. She really appreciates that kind of things, because she can't afford to go out and get them herself, and she knows everything I pass on to her still work well and will last for a long time.

if they still work, check with a church to see if they know of a family in need of them.

If they work, you could donate them to a Habitat Restore. They will come and pick them up. Also, check around for Purple Hearts Veterans Assn.
