Whether they're made from wood, plastic or vinyl, just paint them. Some people like their switch plates to stand out, some like them to blend into the wall. Whichever you prefer is how you choose the color. Just remember to give each switch plate at least 2 coats. This way they can be cleaned of finger prints without worry of peeling or chipping! :)

Take them off the wall and paint them. I also paint the screws with a tiny brush once they are back on the wall and tightened.
Remove them and clean them, then spray paint them in the color you want. Be sure to paint the screws as well and they'll look great when you put them back onto the switches. Easy way to paint the screws is to stick them into a piece of styrofoam or cardboard and spray away.
