I am assuming you want to paint your cupboards. First, clean with a degreaser, sand, prime and paint. Some cupboards need to have a poly or another extra coat of finish to protect them dependence on the type of paint used.

clean clean Clean then sand sand sand. Once you have done that tack cloth it perfectly clean and prime. lightly sand again before painting it with the color of your choice. When it dries apply a sealant before using it. Allow plenty of time to cure the finish
Thanks
