You may have to start over, but first try to "match" it using drywall compound, goo luck :)
Amazon and Ebay sells texture sponges for repairs. Once your surface is ready use drywall mud to apply texture with the sponge. You can see instantly if you have a match. Some may need more steps such as knockdown which you let partially dry then knock down. Instructions included for each plus youtube has videos. They have orange peel also. Link attached. Hope this helps.

Sometimes sanding the repair and sponging on dry wall patch/spackle can mimic the old texture.
Use a textured paint! It is the best paint to cover the most unforgiving blemishes in the wall. Lowes sells a great one under the Valspar name.
Tina...check out my photos...I actually used this incredible paint...JUST LOVED the results!!
It is truly fantastic paint.
Thank you.
It's already textured with sand...you just pick a color! P.S. - do NOT use a sponge brush...it will get torn up. Use a reg paint brush. Ask for Valspar Textured Vinyl Paint ๐ณ
Thank you
