When this happened in my 70 Cougar, I used furniture tacks that are spiral (screw into something).
We had my husbands headliner in his truck replaced by a local specialist and it only cost $150.

I’ve had luck with spray adhesive
Years ago we could not afford the have it done professionally so I bought 3 strips of flexable metal the width of the roof plus a bit. (stiff plastic should work too) I put against the roof, bowing it to hold the fabric and sliding it under the edge of the window trim. Worked great and cost less than $5
