Yes you can. The secret is to use a fabric medium mixed with the paint or use fabric paint. That and spraying it with water before you paint will help keep the paint from getting hard & crinkly. It also helps to sand between coats if you need more than one. Of course, vacuum the dust off before applying the next coat.
