It wasn't a true stain if it's peeling. And your problem may have been using this product on either a wood that is too green or over an oil based something that doesn't play well other oils or latex products. Good news, you can strip it using a soy based stripper. Just follow the directions closely and wear protective clothing and shoes you don't care about. Going forward, sand surface to bare wood and start fresh.
I would certainly report the issue to Behr and or Home Depot where purchased with photos and request a refund. Hopefully they will send someone to inspect. Good luck
H*LL!. You used one of the deck over products. A have been advising people not to use them. They crack and peel within a year or two. Also trap moisture and wood rots. Pain to get off. All you can do is scrape with an ice scraper and sand with coarse sandpaper. Some people had to replace boeards and even complete decks. There are class action lawsuits against the manufacturers. Notice the products are not advertised anymore.
ok was it stain or paint....Behr does stand behind there products.before the bashing make sure you are properly stating what product was used.
I would take it. Better than nothing since you have work ahead for the redo.
That is exactly what Behr and Rustoleum did. Gave a refund. Take the money and you have no other recourse. It's like accepting a settlement.
Rent a big sander you walk behind of.
I too had the same problem. I applied the Behr stain to my deck and within a few weeks, it began to peel. At first, I thought we may have a board that hadn't seasoned well enough. Then the stain began to peel everywhere. I contacted Behr and they sent me a stripper and replacement stain. I do not want to use the replacement product because I have seen too many complaints about the product. What a waste of time and money. Any recommendations for a better stain? I will be sanding and restaining in a few weeks. UGH! Too bad there hasn't been a class action suit filed.
Are you sure that is stain? Paint peels up and stain soaks into the wood.
Hello, hope this helps you out. Sadly we experienced this too, o]the only way is to sand it down and redo it with a good stain that sticks, make sure you clean it well after sanding and let it dry completely.
