If you dont need to open the window, you may consider replacing it with glass block. You would eliminate the wood frame issue and still get nice light and privacy.
I had a window in a shower once which I removed the window and sill changed to a slider and tiled all around it. There was no real need for a curtain because no adjacent way to look in. Have seen a shower curtain made into a window curtain for tension rod top and bottom. But now there is window film that can obscure the view. A photo of style of window and position may generate more suggestions. Good luck
You might want to try to paint the wood with a paint called Countertop coating it's made by Rust-Oleum its moisture and scratch resistant and it also contains antimicrobial protection that will help stop mold and mildew from growing on the wood. For the window you could buy the peel and stick stained glass looking sticker you can find them at the bigger home improvement stores then nobody can see in your shower
I didn't know they made paint like that! Sounds like a good answer for now because $ is short fixing other things first. TY
Thanks for all the expert answers. I now have several options and will consider each with my husband, Nice to know how quickly we get help from all of you,
