Suggestions for Large and deep Alcove/niche in living room ?

I think it would look fine. Perhaps add some pillows or throws that can tie the two together with some coordinating colors. The eye will go to the accessories first.
Hi LaToya, Your idea sounds great. I think the different shades of gray would work well together. I think you should bring in coordinating colors with art, pillows, throws, etc. If you ever want to change the decor in this room, it will be a lot less expensive to change pillows and artwork than a sofa. My opinion, it depends on style of sofa, if big bulky,or very traditional absolutely not the futon will either look small and out of place or it will look to casual. If sofa like mine casual and a reclining leather sofa then I don't see why not. And do as the previous people said to tie it all together.
