How to fix holes in siding?
Woodpeckers have made several holes in the fir siding of my house. The siding is about the garage so it is at the 2nd and 3rd story level of the house. I am afraid that bats or something else will get into the house via these holes

Replace the panels that have holes
It sounds like you have large holes. I think the best approach will be to look at the individual holes, and board they are in. Follow the board back on both sides of the hole until you come to the place where it meets another board. You will know the place because you will see small, indented holes from the nails. Remove the entire board. Replace it with a new one. Caulk both joints where the boards come together. Prime and paint. Done.
