You could paint the legs and frame under the tabletop with chalk paint and wax, and then for using chalk paint on the tabletop--seal it with several coats of matte finish poly rather than wax.

2 to 3 coats of water base polyurethane.

I have painted my dining table with chalk paint recently and waxed. I used Annie Sloan paint and wax. I do love the product but I noticed that the table top that gets used alot is prone to watermarks, and doesn't stay clean looking and smudge free. I recently read up on this and found that using a rustoleum clear matte sealer for chalk paint is suppose to fix this problem. I just bought some and will let you know results! Hope this helps.

I have chalk painted over 100 pieces of furniture and kitchen cabinets. With few exceptions, I always apply a couple of coats of Minwax Polycrylic (or any good brand) in a matte finish instead of wax. For a nice durable finish, sand lightly between coats. If you use wax, you will have to rewax periodically because, just like any wax, it will wear away and dry out over time. But I like the look of waxed furniture so sometimes I apply a thin coat of wax on top of the dry poly for a "softer" look. Good luck!

Just skip the chalk paint and paint it with enamel. Then you know it will hold up to a scrubbing.
