Countertop- Can I possibly use chalk paint?
Hi there. Since I rent, and am a single parent of a son who does not work (LOL), I am interested in painting my counter tops. Previously, I started with 'contact paper' but to no avail. Too difficult and a lot of water ends up on counters. Can I possibly use chalk paint?

The countertop is from Lowes, it is a fake black granite look in matte finish. I want to add sheen to it so it looks more realistic.

They do make countertop paint kits made to resemble granite that you can apply to laminate counter tops if that is a possibility for you.
Here’s a link to one type of countertop resurfacing paint. They also carry similar items at Lowe’s.
Rustoleum has a paint I am going to use ... it comes in a multitude of colors and I've been told by those who've used it that it does a good job.
I do not think chalk paint would hold up on your counter tops--even if you put poly over it. I would use a paint kit for counter tops.
Good luck with that!
