Hi there,
I suggest - Exterior Polyurethane Varnish - more than one coat...........
Hi BMA,
Do you want to preserve the wording? If so, just about the only thing you can do is use and outdoor sealer on the sign. Be careful with polyurethane because it tends to yellow over time. Look for a sealer that sates "non-yellowing" on the label. If you don't want the lettering or can replace it, you can sand the sign then give it a new finish - either by staining, adding the words then sealing or by just sanding it down to make the color lighter, adding the words and sealing.
I hope this helps you. Wishing you success with your project!
Thank you.
