Advice for painting a Fireplace?
I have a red brick fireplace with a concrete mantle and a concrete pad at the bottom. My walls are painted a taupe colour and we have light beige carpet. I’d like to “POW” the fireplace. Our old furniture coming into this family room is also a tan/beige colour. I was thinking to white wash bricks and paint concrete in black??? Any other suggestions? I’m not afraid of colour.

I think I would go for a mid grey colour, which would go well with your existing colours. The mantle would look very nice in black, or a deeper shade of grey. Good luck.👍👍
I love your idea but I think instead of black you might consider charcoal or something a little lighter than black to make a warmer color combination. Good luck!
If everything is beige I would look into some greige shades. I agree with the other posters, don't do black, but a very dark grey, or greige, which may look like a deep bronze depending on that color strip.
If you're not afraid of color think about painting the concrete a vivid color, like a dark teal. Something that matches your decor. I think it would look awesome and if you don't like it, just paint over it. I would avoid a gloss finish on that concrete. Good luck!
Thanks everybody ;). I’ve decided to whitewash fireplace and a mid grey for the concrete areas. I’ll post a photo once completed. Wish me luck.
Question: do you start by using a primer? or do you just start painting?

Don't paint it. The brick is beautiful! If you anything just add a fake granite finish on the cement parts. Too many drab colors get to be too much.
https://youtu.be/g3RTWcq7ye4 I saw this and I think it is called a German smear. I like it much better than paint. I think it looks more authentic rustic if that’s a thing.
