Slipcovers: Yay or Nay DIY in Denim?
The upholstery is in fine condition but...OK, I'm odd...I really don't like the color or pattern. I've decided to make a slipcover out of patchwork denim.
Have you done something like this? Suggestions, hints, desire to talk me out of it?

Adrianne C on Jun 11, 2014Denim is definitely sturdy, and if you like it, that's all that matters! There are many other things made and recycled from it!Helpful Reply

Nancy Gramm on Jun 11, 2014I had a chair upholstered in denim fifteen years ago. I remember the upholsterer was skeptical; it's a gorgeous, expensive chair. I told him I was retiring to the lake, which I did. I still love the chair, love the unexpected look of the denim, though it has begun to wear. I say, especially when you're only slipcovering, go for it. I know, making slipcovers is a lot of work! I did one in khaki duck years ago--took me a whole summer, working mostly the nights I couldn't sleep. Except for the slipcover, it was a pretty bad summer for me. ;^)Helpful Reply

Melissa on Jun 11, 2014DO IT!! If you don't like it you can always make awesome patchwork/rag quilts out of the jeans. I love the unexpected and functional but with elegance and class. You will know if it meets your expectations. But you will never know if you don't do it!Helpful Reply
