Hi Sandra! That’s gorgeous floor - we’ve installed something similar in our basement. It looks great with white trim (and awful with cream - which we had before!) You might find it easier to choose your paint after you buy your furniture. Gray furniture looks good with very different colours than brown. But, if you must paint now - blues or greens might work for either. Do you have any patterned fabrics chosen for the room? That can help you narrow down colours. :)
I’m not seeing the picture, but they make a paint color called, Greige. (Gray-ge). It’s a perfect blend of grey and beige. Also, mushroom is a nice neutral color. Hope this helps😊
What a lovely home. May you make many happy memories there. I'd forget about "current styles" and go with a color that makes you happy when you are surrounded by it! All the best!
Hi, a few tips when choosing paint colors. You may want to go to a paint company's website (such as DunnEdwards.com). Choose colors that appeal and make sure they look great with your flooring, kitchen cabinets, counters... and any other elements in the room.
Before you buy paint, purchase a sample or quart and paint a section of one wall. Make sure you're happy with the color in natural light (morning, afternoon) and then at night with artificial light. I learned this the hard way! In the '80s I painted my dining room a neutral color with a soft peach tint (popular color at the time). When I took my husband to the house that evening to show him the color it looked cotton candy pink in the artificial light. That was a re-paint!
Also remember that the paint will look lighter on the wall than on a paint swatch. Most paint company websites have color visualization tools that allow you to "paint" a virtual room to see how the color will look. Best of luck with your project. Enjoy your lovely new home! :)
