How do I fix a wall with Plastic tile bathroom?

How can I cover old plastic tiles in my bathroom? I could take them off but then I have a glue on the wall. And I still waiting for my nephews to do wains coating. 5 years now🙄

you could just paint over them. use a stencil, acrylic floor and patio paint..and change how it looks for cheap.
It may be a painstaking job but I would consider taking them off. They are no longer legal to sell as they give off toxic fumes in a fire. Take them off and install bead board. It comes in 4' x 8' sheets and would go up pretty fast. Hire a local handyman. It should not take long to install.

I was wondering if I took plastic tile off wall if I could paint over the old glue? It would have a interesting pattern. Just don’t know about paint or what kind . The glue is pretty dry 50 years old🤔
If you prime over the glue you can paint it, try fine grit sand paper first to make it smooth.
