First, re-flash your chimney. That is how the water got in. Then cut away damaged and let wall dry. Then hang sheet rock on lath strips to even with the existing wall. Goo luck.

I am so sorry you have gone through this natural disaster. I hope that you did not suffer a bunch more of damage as this is more than enough for you I am sure. Don't forget to use your insurance for help on the repair. Again, I express to you my deepest heartfelt support.
Thank you. Roofer coming on Friday to fix flashing. I’ll be sure to let it dry out well before I fix it.
if you still think its getting damp, tape a sheet of aluminum foil over the area. like your wall papering the area. just a sheet of foil and tape around the edges. Wait a week. Take down tin foil. If the side of the paper which was up against the wall is
wet, you still have a problem.
I noticed that the green paint has a sandy texture. depending on your taste you can cover the entire wall with three eights drywall, tape prime and paint. Or remove the loose paint. Mix sand in to a roller pan with your paint and try to duplicate a similar texture.
Also the crack will have to be taped. Sand the mud. Always tape a crack. Crack filler will only result in another crack.
