You had put an article about windows. I have the oddest windows.... I want decorative window ideas that do not cover the windows. I love the openness and light. And my bird feeders are in the front

I have the french doors in my living room. The living room is separated by a large fireplace. It goes out into a sunroom.
Build large frames around them and add a shelf on the bottom.
You could add some decorative molding around them to "bulk" them up. Something like this, maybe? https://www.prettyhandygirl.com/window_trim_how_to_tutorial/

On a personal note, I am like you I do love the natural light, but I also like some covering on my windows. I have used inexpensive sheer curtains that were given to me by my mother, and just sewed pretty lace at the top or bottom, cut them to fit windows anywhere I need them. Burlap is another inexpensive and rustic way to cover windows as you would like them. Best wishes on your decision. I know it will look great!
I also love the light and am lucky because I live on a bluff on 25 acres so privacy is no concern other than deer and other wildlife looking in. My only problem was sun wiping out the picture on the TV so we installed Hunter blinds. they allow light but not too much. we lower or raise as needed to cut out bright light when watching TV.
I agree with the idea of bulking up the molding. With drapes, windows need substantial moldings. With that, you could a berry garland across the tops that only come down about 1/4-1/3 of the way on the sides. If you like to change your look with seasons, you can easily with different garland! Fall leaves, pine, etc...
These are awesome ideas! Thank you all so much!!!
I love open too. I love to watch the trees n birds. This was my solution. Originally had glass paint on them, if u look carefully, some still needs to be scrapped off, but had the plants n no time so did the install , will tweak it later. Put a few glass birds n "shiny" baubles and voila. Looks way better than the pix. Used double curtain rods.
Hi Beth, have you ever thought about putting up stained glass in the center panel? You would still be able to see through it, and see the birds out of the side panels, and it would be such a beautiful addition to these windows. There are a number of sites on line, but here is one to wet your imagination:
