have you contacted you mfg customer service they may have a more heavy duty knob that you could use. Seems like it’s a problem they should be aware of. I know that hardware stores carry replacement knobs but they do not always fix either. Is there anyway you could reinforce the new knob with out interference with the push down area? I have had same issues and tried glue it did not work very well. I am thinking about using a resin to firm up the knob itself.
I glued my broken knob back together with Cyanoacrylate (crazy glue) & masking tape.
