How do I select a sofa color ?
How do I select a sofa that coordinates with this copper(?) color chair? It's darker and more vibrant than the photo. I think it would be more cost effective to buy a sofa than reupholster the chair, since I don't have a sofa.

browns, golds, oranges, or other fall colors would look lovely with that chair. what other colors do you have in the room?
It's an open slate. I'm moving in soon and completely renovating. What about carpet color? Paint?
you could decide by using a color wheel and either go with a color similar (oranges, reds, yellows) or go across the color wheel into the blues and indigo shades. Don't try to match too much or you run the risk of being boring. Or find a print that has the chair color in it.
Depending on your style you could go as dark as navy or even gray, or you could go as bright as a slip covered white sofa. With pillows on the sofa to bring in the copper and other colors it would be gorgeous.
Go for a neutral color and add pillows with copper, navy and blush. It's a dynamite combo.
Thank all of you so much for your suggestions. I'm leaning toward a grey sofa, because of the dogs, and accent with pillows that bring in the colors of the chair.
A sofa upholstered in a medium blue with throw pillows in a blue & copper combination would be nice. Blue is the complement to copper (orange) and wouldn't fight with the chair. Then I would add artwork using shades of those same colors. Toss a small blue pillow on the chair. (A pillow fabric like in the picture would work on the sofa.) Good luck!
Hi Carol. Great chair. Since it's a copper tone and in the "hot range" go in the opposite direction and choose a cool color. Blues (turquoise, navy), greens (from celery to hunter green), blacks (blue-blacks, red-blacks). Then use either a rug that incorporates the two colors or throw pillows (you can even get plain colored ones and using acrylic paints make a design with the colors). Happy decorating!

A sofa in a neutral colour will coordinate with a much broader range of colours on the walls, floor coverings, and other furnishings in the room. Add specific colours with pillows, area rugs, vases, etc.
If you are purchasing a pricier, higher end sofa, then I would advise to go with a more neutral colour anyway, simply because you will likely have it for a much longer time. It will blend in more with new decorating trends, and you will not tire of it as quickly, compared with a bolder colour.
