How do I cover the outside vents around my house?
I have an older brick home. The vents are as old. Need something DIY to hold over to warmer weather and have new ones put in. It's really cold outside.
It might be froze up? Or the drip pan might of filled up which can make it shut off. Hope that helps
Do you mean that the AC unit is running, (you can hear it or a light shows that it is On) but there is no cold air coming out of it?
Is the inside unit running? Could be a contactor on the outside unit gone bad. Could be the run capacitor is bad. Could be the compressor is bad. You need a HVAC tech to check out all possibilities.
I’ve got three separate units on my house in AZ and after watching the HVAC tech replace one large capacitor and charge me $250 for about 30 mins work, I ordered the same capacitors on Amazon for about $20 bucks each and found that I can replace them easily myself after discharging the residual charge they may hold. I still have the HVAC company come out every couple years to do system checks and minor cleanings and understand that each year brings me closer to replacing the entire systems as they age over ten years.
Just had that happen it sometimes helps to push the fan blades if that doesn’t work google it small condenser is out you may be able to fix it very easy
You more than likely need Freon which has to be filled by a professional.
Check the exhaust pipes. Squirrels put rocks in ours once and it was doing the same.
Usually if the fan comes on outside but the compressor doesn't it is the start capacitor newer units have a split capacitor where on side starts the fan and the other side starts the compressor. Its usually an inexpensive item. If you have s local Grainger they will test it for you as well as sell you a replacement if needed.
