Should I paint my walls white?
I want to paint my living room/Dining room/Kitchen combination. I would like to paint all the walls and ceilings a "pure white".... The kitchen cupboards are all white, the floor is hardwood thru out in a medium dark color. Does this seem realizable ???

Charlene-Nancy: Certainly this is doable... but put in some pops of color with dining chair cushions, centerpiece, storage containers, etc
I agree! Too blah, add some color 😂
Hi Charlene-Nancy,
I'm Linda and yes, I think it would be something that you could do. My only precaution is that all whites are different and if you want an all white look, to me it would be important to match the color of the kitchen cupboards. One way to do that is to bring home samples of every white you can find and tape them on the cupboards. Look at them at different times of the day with different lighting and immediately take down any that are off in color. Keep this up until you're sure that you've matched the white. (unless you want to paint the cupboards, too) If you find more than one and can't choose, see if you can buy sample sized of each one. Then paint white paper with each color. let them dry and tape those to the cupboard. Watch them for a few days and you should have your answer.
What I really like about your idea is that with all of the white, you can add different color accessories when every you feel like a change. Maybe green in the summer, orange in the fall, blue or red & green in the winter and perhaps yellow in the spring. In short, you'll create a canvas that can be changed to fit your mood and/or the seasons! I hope that you'll take pictures as you go and with different accessories and use the Post Project to let us see what you did. :) It's not hard to use the Post Project feature on Hometalk because it will walk you through the steps so that you can share how beautiful that part of your home looks after all of your work. :) Wishing you the best on your project.
Pure White would make a pretty bold statement. In my opinion, I would tone it down. Many varieties of off-white are available. Such as bone White, linen white, and then there can be whites with gray tint..
Hi! I painted my cabinets with General Finishes’ milk paint. I also used their stain-blocking primer and performance top coat. I think the same paint could work for your project. My links to the products, photos of my project, a description of the brushes, etc., I used, and a tutorial can be found here: http://momhomeguide.com/my-painted-kitchen-cabinets-a-year-later/ I painted my cabinets over a year ago. It was easy and looks great! If you want a distressed look, you can lightly sand the paint off in spots (after painting) to let the wood show through. Good luck! 😃 🍀🎨
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my questions.... I appreciate your comments
