How do I remove burned on black marks on my smooth stovetop?
A few years ago, hot oil/grease from a pan I was frying chicken in overflowed onto my smooth stovetop burner. When the area had cooled sufficiently, I wiped/cleaned up the area with a sponge. The oil had burned onto the burner surface, leaving a big black ring that I can’t remove. I’ve tried using the Wieman’s (sp.?) ceramic stovetop liquid cleanser that dries into sort of a paste when applied, and then you wipe /scrub it off with “elbow grease” using a paper towel.
It doesn’t work, doesn’t do anything to the black mark. The mark appears to have burned into the ceramic top; when I run my hand over the mark it is smooth, no edges and it’s not raised on the surface.
Didn't think I should use a Brillo pad on a smooth stovetop burner for fear of scratching it badly.
is there any solution to remove the mark, or am stuck with it forever (no pun intended)?
Thanks.

My kitchen cabinets are embarrassingly greasy. Please share your degreasing tips with me so I don't have to cringe every time I glance at my cabinets.
WD40 will many times clean a cool stove top, make sure the heat is off and that you remove all the remaining product.
Hi. It's amazing how well things stick to glass, isn't it? Take a single edged razor blade and at a 45 degree angle scrape the residue off. Anything remaining you can probably get off with a paste of baking soda and water. Good luck!
Here's what I do for marks on my ceramic cook top: 1st, I rub in a circular fashion with Bar Keepers Friend soft cleanser on a paper towel, then rinse off with wet cloth. When that doesn't work, I carefully scrape with a razor blade scraper. (It's recommended in my users manual). My cook top looks amazing good for an eight year old range.
HI Susan. I also have used bar keepers friend for this, and magic erasers. They both work great for stove tops.
Thank you! That’s exactly what I was thinking. I was worried about damaging the stovetop with the razor.
Will let you know if your suggestions work.
Get a new stove that shouldn't be that much work.. if not try a little bit of dawn in hot boiling water on a cloth and let it sit on top repeat if needed so you basically take the cough in the hot water with the Dawn and lay down and then repeat.
