How do I use sand texture spray paint on countertops?

how WELL do those sand texture spray paints work on countertops? - smooth finish? tough? [at least tough enuf to last til i budget for granite reno...]if recommended, which brand, and - any way to find them for less than $15 per can!!!? [without buying a box of 6 for+/- 40..]

Think twice about using sand textured paint on your kitchen countertops - unless you want to epoxy over it for a smooth surface. Kitchen counters are smooth so they can be cleaned easily. Germs can get caught in textured counters. The money you spend on epoxying could go into your granite fund.
yes, i knew it would need [sanding? and] epoxy, but wondered if it were still worth it...i have so [too] many other projects, so i think i'll hold off on this one!!
