If the layers is thick you might want to use a solvent oil based. Even new cooking oil will do the trick. The next step is to remove the solvent with a detergent/soap or windex. Baking soda will work if the layer is not thick. Also works as sanding agent.
Hello, I tend to use a soapy water Dawn solution for mild weekly cleaning and Murphy’s oil soap for more moderete cleaning jobs. Murphy's oil soap is an excellent all purpose wood cleaner.
