How do I get the hard water deposits out of my toilet bowl?
i have tried everything, our well water tastes great, but is aweful to keep the toilet clean, i found that the childrens bathroom was not getting cleaned often enough to keep up with the build up, yes my fault for trusting teens to do what i did at that age, but now i find myself soaking and scrubbing with everything i can get my hands on, but still have the hard to reach areas i can not get clean...

I have a blue ring from an in bowl hanging cleaner. Over the counter cleaners don't take out the ring. I have good well water.
Pumice stone and or CLR
I would start with CLR, avaliable at stores like Walmart. DIY's.
Pumice stones WILL scratch. Once you scratch a surface you are now creating spaces for new stains to cling to. Pumice is never recommended for porcelain. Try The Works toilet bowl cleaner. Found at most Dollar stores. Turn off the water supply at the floor and flush. Pour in some of the product. Let sit overnight if it is truly hard water deposits in the belly of the toilet. I tried every method on the market including totally emptying the bowl and using the back end of a toothbrush to dislodge buildup. Nothing worked. The Works took it out and it never came back again. I now use it weekly as a quick clean. Let sit for a few minutes then swish with toilet brush. Do you tank as well. Mine was so rusty it was horrible. One treatment of The Works ....pure white again.
Dump in vinegar and let it soak the hard water deposits off. Here is a post I wrote about the cleaning power of vinegar. You can even turn off the water to the toilet, flush the tank and fill it with vinegar to get that clean too.
The Works Toilet Cleaner will etch the glazing over time. I use a few squirts of Dawn dish liquid in the toilet. Then pour in some vinegar. Use a toilet brush to foam it up. Let it sit for abount an hour or two. A little scrubbing with the toilet brush and flush. I also recommend getting a water softener.
i haven't tried the dawn and vinegar together, will check it out. thanks
