You could air it out really well, keep the lid open. Another thing to try us activated charcoal and or clay kitty litter.
Not sure if the mothball smell will ever be totally gone once it has penetrated the wood.
It has me wondering why would anyone use mothballs in cedar, when moths are repelled by it.
Do you have a fan you could use on it in the meantime to hasten airing.

yes use charcoal brisks that you would use to barbeque with to absorb the putride smell of moth balls.
