Hello Linda! Make sure you use a stain product that soaks into the wood rather than forming a layer on top of the wood like paint. You will have no trouble then with peeling or bubbling. Choosing the right product is critical to saving yourself a headache down the road. You don't want to stain your deck too soon especially if you have used treated wood. If it’s new wood you need to let it cure for about 6 months to dry out. Then I would just Thompson’s water seal it
