How do you remove the vinyl window slats in a sliding window?

Is it the style now to just have blinds only at windows? No curtains?
I want to put either curtains or valances at windows but my husband say no. He says it is the style now to just have the blinds.
You can usually get ready made in stock blinds at Home Depot and they will cut them to fit if they do not have your size. They will come to your house and measure and install them for a fee of course. Still a lot cheaper than custom made blinds.
My windows don't have a deep enough frame to hang blinds inside the frame so Ihave to hang them outside. I measured the frame along the top for the width and top to sill for length. I don't like hanging them on the frame but I have no choice. Unless you want to have a place like Blinds to Go come in and do a custom job.
I have used select blinds to get them. They are cheaper than stores, they run sales all of the time, send out free samples and the quality seems good. If you want room darkening and are planning on using an inside mount, add 3/8" to the width you tell them.
