Deck stain turned chalky-looking
I recently stained my deck and now it is all chalky and streaky looking. What causes this and how can I correct it?
Make sure it is thoroughly dry before staining. There is no such thing as maintenance free but you can use a deck stain and sealer that will reduce the maintenance. It will have to be reapplied every few years.

Behr makes an outstanding deck stain that I used 4 years ago on a deck. It’s their second most expensive line. It comes in opaque, semi and transparent.
I’ve not had to touch it up, yet.
New Treated Lumber should not be stained nor painted for 3 months, to off-gas the chemicals.
