How do I avoid getting a streaky look when resurfacing a table?
Using minwax polyurethane satin to redo a dining room table and I keep getting streaks from the brush using a wide foam brush. I lightly sanded first than applied minw ax stain. All is water based. Waited a day before applying polyurethane.

Use a soft brush not a foam brush and do not press hard. Light gentle strokes works.
The problem is probably the foam brush. I always use a bristled brush. Between layers instead of sanding you can use fine steel wool. I like the results better.
Don't use a foam brush for poly! If you are doing a tabletop I would use a lamb's wool applicator! You will get a beautiful smooth finish! Make sure you sand lightly in between coats of poly with the right grit sandpaper.
Wow didn't know that about a foam brush. Always thought they were better for that. Thank you all so much!!
