It's an outside plastic container to store things in.
I don't think you'd be happy with paint because any areas that are sprayed thinner or thicker will show when the light is on. You could replace the light fixture or buy new plastic, which is available at lighting shops or home repair stores. Just this would make that light look better.
I wouldn't paint it, but maybe something like this? https://www.decorativelightcovers.com/instantly-updating-home-decorative-fluorescent-light-covers/
Go to amazon and type in florescent light cover. There are some beautiful options to choose from.
I was just thinking about mine -what if lace, net or stencil inside the cover? I'm going to try cuz I got to clean it anyway and I'll let you know how it turns out
Amazon, Wayfair, Lamps Plus, etc all have beautiful and affordable options. I'm afraid if you try to paint it, when you turn the light on it will look streaky. No matter how many coats you apply.
